Ms. Kays received her Bachelor of Arts in political science from Seattle University in 1990. She then relocated to Washington, D.C., and worked for United States Senator Slade Gorton, where she worked as a senior legislative assistant. In 1997, she returned to the Pacific Northwest to attend Seattle University School of Law, and earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, in 2000.
