Matt J. O'Laughlin

Matt J. O'Laughlin is an attorney at Maloney O’Laughlin, PLLC. Based in Seattle, he focuses his practice on employment law matters, providing representation to people throughout the greater metropolitan area and other parts of the state. Admitted to practice before all Washington state courts, Mr. O'Laughlin is also admitted to practice in Missouri and Kansas as well as before the U.S. District Courts for the Western and Eastern Districts of Missouri and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit.

Mr. O'Laughlin confines his practice to assisting current, past, and prospective employees in a variety of issues. A significant portion of his caseload deals with employment and workplace discrimination that is prohibited under a variety of federal and state statutes. These include the Washington State Law Against Discrimination, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Pregnancy Discrimination Act. Mr. O'Laughlin has also represented people who have been the victim of workplace sexual harassment, and his clients have also included whistleblowers who have been wrongfully terminated or who have been otherwise illegally retaliated against.

Mr. O'Laughlin has been able to obtain significant compensation for his clients, both after a jury trial and as the result of settlements that he has been able to negotiate out of court. His fellow attorneys have taken note of his successful track record and have awarded him a 10.0 "Superb" peer review rating through Avvo. In addition, Mr. O'Laughlin has been named to National Trial Lawyers Top 100, an invitation-only organization. He obtained his legal education at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law, where he was the articles editor on the UMKC Law Review before receiving his Juris Doctor in 2002.
