Attorney Profile

A co-founder of Nelson Langer Engle, PLLC, Michael E. Nelson is widely considered one of Washington state's leading personal injury attorneys. Based in Seattle, he represents people across the state who have been harmed by another party's negligence. Mr. Nelson's particular focus is on traumatic brain injuries that result from slips and falls, workplace accidents, motor vehicle crashes, assaults and contact sports. His interest in this area stems in large part from a serious head injury that he sustained in college as a result of a collision with a truck that was being driven by an operator who was under the influence of alcohol.

In addition to cases dealing with brain injuries, Mr. Nelson's personal injury and wrongful death experience extends to medical malpractice and premises liability. During his career, he has been able to obtain several seven-figure and higher settlements and jury awards on behalf of his plaintiff clients, and this has led to his induction into the invitation-only Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Mr. Nelson also provides assistance to clients whose long-term disability claims have been denied by their insurance companies in bad faith. Held in high esteem by his fellow attorneys, he has received a 10.0 "Superb" peer review rating through Avvo.

A native of Washington, Mr. Nelson graduated from the University of Washington in 1972 with a Bachelor of Arts cum laude. He received his legal education at what was then known as the University of Puget Sound School of Law and was awarded his Juris Doctor in 1974. Mr. Nelson is admitted to practice in Washington as well as before the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit. His professional memberships include the Brain Injury Alliance of Washington.
