After earning a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Washington, Ms. Shulenberger then attended the University of Puget Sound. There, she graduated cum laude with a Juris Doctor and has been admitted to practice in the state of Washington since 1982. Ms. Shulenberger is a current member of the family law section of the King County Bar Association (KCBA), the Washington State Bar Association (WSBA), King County Collaborative Law and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. Susan serves on the Board of King County Collaborative Law. She previously served on the WSBA professionalism committee, the character and fitness board, the rules of professional conduct committee, and the KCBA gender equality in law committee and the judicial recommendation committee.

She has also presented to various organizations regarding divorce litigation, including the National Business Institute Continuing Legal Education seminar and the WSBA Continuing Legal Education seminar.
