Vanessa J. Firnhaber Oslund

A partner at the law firm Bergman Oslund Udo Little, PLLC, attorney Vanessa J. Firnhaber Oslund assists the residents of Washington and Oregon primarily with mesothelioma and asbestos litigation. Along with those cases, she also handles legal issues involving veteran affairs (VA) mesothelioma claims, asbestos lung cancer, wrongful death, mesothelioma claims and juvenile sexual abuse. She is admitted to practice law in the states of Washington and Oregon.  

Ms. Oslund has been committed to representing and defending the rights of asbestos victims for over a decade. She has a special interest in representing victims of “take-home” asbestos exposure, people who were exposed to asbestos through their spouses’ or parents’ work attires. Recognized among her peers for her zealous advocacy in and out of the courtroom and her compassionate outlook, she has achieved many multimillion-dollar settlements and verdicts for her clients. 

In addition to championing the rights of asbestos victims, Ms. Oslund represents survivors of sexual abuse. Not long ago, she lobbied for the Washington legislature to pass a law that would enable sexual abuse survivors to lodge claims no matter how long ago the abuse occurred. Acknowledging that most of her clients’ find their legal ordeals intimidating, she helps them navigate complex legal procedures and keeps them informed throughout the case. 

Completing her bachelor’s degree in sociology with honors in 2000, Ms. Oslund graduated from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. Pursuing her interest in law, she enrolled in the Seattle University School of Law to obtain her Juris Doctor degree summa cum laude in 2006. While at law school, she was the editor of the Seattle University Law Review and consistently made it to the dean’s list for multiple semesters. She was also the recipient of the Year End Achievement Scholarship and was awarded the CALI Excellence for the Future Award for her scholastic achievements.

Ms. Oslund is an active member of the legal community and is affiliated with many notable organizations such as the American Association for Justice, the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association, the Multnomah Bar Association, the Kitsap County Bar Association, the Washington State Association for Justice, the Oregon State Bar, the Tacoma-Pierce County Bar Association and the Washington State Bar Association.
