Holly S. Planinsic

Based in Wheeling, West Virginia, Holly S. Planinsic has devoted her entire legal career to Herndon, Morton, Herndon & Yaeger, ascending to the role of partner in 1999. Her legal practice covers a broad spectrum of corporate and commercial litigation, with particular attention to sectors such as banking and financial services, media and communications, and employment issues from the employer’s perspective, as well as creditors’ rights in bankruptcy matters. She diligently represents a diverse array of clients, ranging from large corporations to smaller enterprises across various industries, including banking, publishing, broadcasting, real estate development, energy, health care and numerous service sectors.

Throughout her career, Ms. Planinsic has actively pursued and defended a multitude of lawsuits and claims on behalf of her clients. She has made appearances in both state and federal courts, as well as before administrative tribunals, the National Labor Relations Board, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and other pertinent state and federal agencies. Her comprehensive legal service extends beyond the courtroom; she also advises clients on everyday business operations, including contract negotiations, regulatory compliance and employment matters.

Ms. Planinsic is licensed to practice in West Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania. She is also admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit. Her academic credentials include a J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, obtained in 1994, and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Duquesne University, awarded in 1991.

A member of several bar associations, including the West Virginia State Bar, American Bar Association, Ohio County Bar Association, Ohio State Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Association, Ms. Planinsic has also been rated “Very Good” on Avvo. Additionally, she holds positions on the West Virginia Judicial Hearing Board and the West Virginia Public Employees Grievance Board. She is also a member of the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia and the Defense Research Institute.
