Ryan J. Moertel

Attorney Ryan J. Moertel is a partner at Krische & Moertel LLC in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Mr. Moertel focuses his practice exclusively on criminal defense. He handles matters involving assault, college student crimes, criminal traffic offenses, driver’s license reinstatement, drug crimes, marijuana possession, OWI, sex crimes and violent crimes, serving clients in Eau Claire and throughout the surrounding areas.

Mr. Moertel is highly experienced in the area of criminal defense. He provides personalized service and is committed to fighting for the rights of those accused of a crime. He understands the anxiety caused by a criminal charge and takes the time to explain the criminal process to his clients, such as what to expect after an OWI arrest.

Before helping open Krische & Moertel Trial Attorneys, Mr. Moertel practiced as an associate attorney at another Eau Claire-based law firm, devoting his practice to civil litigation, criminal defense, and municipal prosecution. He then decided to focus his practice on criminal defense, aggressively defending the rights of Wisconsin residents facing a misdemeanor or felony charge.

Outside of the office, Mr. Moertel is active in the legal community. He is a former president of the Eau Claire County Bar Association and a current member of the State Bar of Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Mr. Moertel graduated magna cum laude from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire, with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He went on to earn his law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School in Madison, Wisconsin, graduating cum laude with Honors in Criminal Law. He obtained his license to practice law in 2015, qualifying him to appear before all Wisconsin state courts.
