Details
A co-founder of Petit & Dommershausen, SC, Tajara Dommershausen focuses her practice primarily on family law matters including divorce, paternity, grandparents rights, prenuptuial agreements. She also has experience in criminal defense representation as well as with guardianships and the preparation and review of wills, trusts, health care and financial powers of attorney, and other estate planning documents. She is also a trained mediator. Working out of the firm's offices in Menasha, Wisconsin, Ms. Dommershausen's clients come primarily from the northeast part of the state. Admitted to practice before all Wisconsin state courts, she is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.
A large portion of Ms. Dommershausen's family law practice involves her provision of advice and counsel to people who are facing the end of their marriages and who are thus having to deal with such divorce-related issues as asset and debt division, child and spousal support, and child custody and visitation. Her experience in collaborative divorce and her training as a mediator allows her to often help her clients reach an accord on some of these matters through the use of those alternative dispute resolution methods. Other family law subjects that she has handled include adoptions, paternity establishment and the obtaining of protective orders for domestic violence victims.
In her criminal defense practice, Ms. Dommershausen has handled cases involving sexual assault and battery, homicide and drug charges. Her successful track record in all of her professional endeavors has earned her a 10.0 "Superb" peer review rating through Avvo, and in 2015, the American Society of Legal Advocates included her in its annual Top 100 Lawyers list. Ms. Dommershausen is a 1996 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and she received her Juris Doctor from Marquette Law School in 2001.
