Kevin J. Palmersheim is the co-founder and the managing attorney of Palmersheim Dettmann, S.C. He represents companies, their owners and prospective entrepreneurs throughout the state in a wide variety of business transactions and litigation.
Mr. Palmersheim is held in high esteem by colleagues for his body of work and superior ethics. He has been selected by judges and lawyers to mediate business disputes, often involving contentious business break-ups. He likewise represents parties in these types of disputes, and utilizes his skill and experience to come up with creative solutions.
He also is highly respected for his trial and appellate skills. He has successfully argued business law cases in the state and federal courts, including a substantial number of jury trials, and appeals before the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, the Wisconsin Supreme Court, and the United States Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. His cases have frequently created new precedential law on business law issues, and his trial materials have been used to create standard jury instructions for Wisconsin business disputes.
Mr. Palmersheim's transactional experience has included the representation of clients in the purchases and sales of businesses as well as in dissolutions. He frequently advises clients in connection with family farms and other family-owned businesses.
Mr. Palmersheim majored in political science and business at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. His legal education came at the University of Wisconsin Law School in Madison, where he also obtained a Masters degree in Business.
Mr. Palmersheim is a past president of the Dane County Bar Association. He has served on the Wisconsin State Bar’s Board of Governors and has been appointed chair of several committees. In addition to his legal practice, Kevin lectures frequently to lawyers, professional groups, and college classes on topics such as entrepreneurship, business law, and legal rights and responsibilities.
