Details

Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Eric Hart is the owner of Hart Law Office. Based in his hometown, he divides his practice among a variety of different disciplines, representing clients throughout the greater metropolitan area. Mr. Hart is a graduate of Marquette University, where he majored in finance and marketing and received a Bachelor of Science in 2008. After taking courses at the University of Dayton School of Law, he moved back to Milwaukee and enrolled at Marquette University Law School, and he was awarded his Juris Doctor in 2011. Mr. Hart has practiced in numerous counties, the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, as well as federal courts.

A large part of Mr. Hart's practice is centered on family law matters. In that regard, he represents people whose marriages are coming to an end and who are struggling to reach an agreement on such divorce-related issues as child custody and visitation, alimony, child support, and the division of complex assets and debts. A tenacious litigator when necessary, Mr. Hart often helps them reach an accord through such alternative dispute resolution techniques as mediation and negotiations. He also has experience in the preparation of prenuptial and post-marital agreements, and he helps clients seek the enforcement of or modifications to existing support and custody orders.

Mr. Hart's other practice areas include defending clients who are facing criminal charges and he provides representation to plaintiffs in personal injury, estate planning, and wrongful death litigation.

Mr. Hart is the co-chair of the Milwaukee County Bar Association Bench Bar Committee.  He meets with judicial officials to help improve the quality of the family court system.  He is also the president of the Leander J Foley, Jr. Society of Family Lawyers.  An organization that brings family attorneys together for training and collaboration.

“Attorney Eric Hart is a very knowledgeable young attorney. He is already highly regarded by the courts and his peers. He has handled difficult cases with calm and professionalism. Despite his young age, the courts have been appointing him as guardian ad litem for the children in very difficult custody and placement cases. This shows that the courts trust his ability to communicate well and have the best interest of the children in hand. Eric's peers speak highly of him in regards to his knowledge, demeanor and professionalism. Eric's client appreciate that he takes the time to know their case and give them the best and honest advice.”

“I have known Eric now for several years. He has served with me on the SOFL Board and has done an exemplary job as a lawyer and public servant. He gets immersed with various cases and also helps those underprivileged who need help and representation. I would highly recommend him for this nomination.”
