Jason D. Luczak leads the criminal and white-collar defense team at Gimbel, Reilly, Guerin & Brown, LLP in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He represents clients in a variety of practice areas, including criminal and white-collar defense, administrative and licensing matters, and related civil litigation in the state and federal courts, throughout Wisconsin.

Luczak’s experience includes trying serious high-profile felonies and other charges in state and federal court. This also includes briefing and arguing appeals before the Wisconsin Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. He is licensed to practice law in Wisconsin and Illinois, as well as before the U.S. District Courts in Wisconsin, the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.

Luczak is known as an experienced, creative and zealous advocate for his clients who are often-times facing the most serious of criminal accusations. Some of his most recent trial successes include winning a full acquittal in a two-week long jury trial involving allegations of stalking, strangulation, false imprisonment, battery and disorderly conduct; winning a verdict of not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect where Luczak’s client was charged with first degree intentional homicide; and winning a partial acquittal in a two-week long jury trial involving allegations of sexual abuse by a teacher.

Luczak is dedicated to ensuring future generations of lawyers know the importance of developing strong trial skills through his teaching and mentorship. In addition to his law practice, Luczak is currently an adjunct professor of law, teaching trial advocacy, at Marquette University Law School. He has also mentored many up-and-coming trial lawyers while they navigate the early stages of their careers. He is so well respected in this capacity that he was recently awarded the mentor of the year award from the State Bar of Wisconsin for his leadership and guidance of new trial lawyers. Jason is a frequent commentator on CourtTV, and speaker on numerous criminal and trial topics for the Milwaukee Bar Association and Marquette University Law School.

Luczak has been recognized and awarded for his trial achievements in other areas as well. In 2023, he was honored with the Kuchler-Nicholson-Stilling Sensitive Crimes Award by the Wisconsin Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers for his successful verdict in a felony assault trial. The Wisconsin Law Journal has recognized him several times by naming him an “Up and Coming Lawyer” and then again in 2023 for the inaugural “Legal All-Stars” distinction. BizTimes Media in Milwaukee, WI, also selected him as a “Rising Star in Law” and as a “Notable Litigator and Trial Attorney” throughout the entire Milwaukee area. Luczak is also listed as a Wisconsin Super Lawyer and a Best Lawyer.

Luczak is a graduate of Chicago-Kent College of Law, where he first discovered his love and passion for trials as a member of the school's nationally recognized trial team. When he was in Chicago, he worked on post-conviction and death penalty cases and appeals through the Law Offices of Chicago-Kent College of Law. Verdicts/Settlements (Case Results):
  • The Court of Appeals sided with Mr. Harrell and determined that the Department of Corrections could not take more funds than ordered by the trial court judge.  This decision along with the Ortiz decision, where we represented another inmate pro bono, provides protections for prison inmates and does not allow the DOC to excessively tax inmates’ account.   GRGB Law is pleased that our pro bono representation of Mr. Harrell and Mr. Ortiz led to two important victories in the Court of Appeals., 2022
