John Tuffnell

John Tuffnell is a renowned attorney and co-owner of Salberg Tuffnell Law with offices in Milwaukee and West Bend, Wisconsin. John focuses his practice on ERISA, employee benefits, contract and business disputes, insurance disputes, and real estate, land use and nuisance law. With more than 25 years in the legal field, he has built a dynamic practice helping individuals and businesses enforce their rights, recover benefits, and get paid. He also assists individuals with payment disputes with doctors and hospitals, usually when the insurance company has denied coverage.

John's focus on ERISA and employee benefit cases includes life, health, and disability benefits, ESOP valuation disputes, COBRA rights and penalties, and severance and retirement/pension/401k disputes. His federal court experience is vast, particularly in health insurance and health care payment disputes, including class actions. He also represents insurance agencies and agents in regulatory conflicts with state and federal regulators, and with private regulators such as FINRA.

John spent the first 18 years of his legal career at large law firms in Iowa (1996-2002) and Wisconsin (2002-2013) before starting his own practice. In 2019, he merged firms with a former colleague and started Salberg Tuffnell Law.
