Kate A. Neugent

Kate A. Neugent is an attorney at Burbach & Stansbury S.C., in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Ms. Neugent has over a decade of experience and focuses her practice exclusively on family law. She handles matters involving divorce, paternity, prenuptial agreements, third-party visitation and guardian ad litem work. She serves clients in the Milwaukee metropolitan area and throughout the surrounding region.

In addition to broad litigation experience, Ms. Neugent is trained in collaborative divorce, an approach that seeks to reduce the adversarial nature of marital dissolution, by using alternative dispute resolution methods such as mediation and arbitration.

In honor of her accomplishments, the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys included Ms. Neugent on its “10 Best Under 40” list several years in a row. In 2011, she was named one of “Wisconsin’s outstanding young lawyers” in family law by the American Registry and in 2015 was listed among “America’s most honored professionals” by the same organization.

Ms. Neugent is a member of professional organizations including the family law sections of the Milwaukee Bar Association and the State Bar of Wisconsin. She is also a member of the Washington County Bar Association, the Collaborative Family Law Council of Wisconsin, the Association for Women Lawyers, the National Association of Counsel for Children and the Leander J. Foley Matrimonial American Inn of Court. She is a certified member of the Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts and regularly authors and lectures on family law topics.  She also serves as the President of the Board for the Leander J. Foley Society of Family Lawyers. 

Ms. Neugent graduated magna cum laude from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a bachelor’s degree in social welfare. She received her law degree from Marquette University Law School.
