Max T. Stephenson is a family law attorney and partner at Gimbel, Reilly, Guerin & Brown, LLP, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Mr. Stephenson represents clients throughout the Milwaukee area in matters involving divorce, guardianships, paternity, post-judgment disputes and other issues. 

Mr. Stephenson has been involved in many significant family law cases and has earned a reputation for his legal contributions to the LGBTQ+ community. His work has earned him a place on the “Ones to Watch” list by Best Lawyers. Additionally, in 2017, the Wisconsin Law Journal included him on its “Up and Coming Lawyer” list. 

Outside of his law practice, Mr. Stephenson stays involved in the Wisconsin legal community as an active member and former president of the Milwaukee Young Lawyers Association. He also belongs to the Milwaukee Bar Association, the Waukesha County Bar Association, the State Bar of Wisconsin and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, and he has spoken at conferences and seminars. 

In prior years, Mr. Stephenson participated in the Leander J. Foley Matrimonial American Inn of Court and sat on the board of the Leander J. Foley, Jr. Society of Family Lawyers. He continues to volunteer his time as a mentor with the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce’s Emerging Leaders program and serving as a mock trial coach for the National Moot Court Competition team at Marquette University Law School.

After graduating from Marquette University in 2010 with a bachelor's degree, Mr. Stephenson earned his law degree from Marquette University Law School in 2013. He was a member of the Pro Bono Honor Society and chief justice of the Moot Court Association. Following law school, he passed the Wisconsin bar examination and received his license to practice law before all Wisconsin state courts.
