Peter A. Stanford is the founding attorney of Stanford Law Offices, S.C., based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and maintains a practice that addresses bicycle and car accidents, tractor‑trailer and semi truck collisions, motorcycle crashes, Uber/Lyft incidents, underinsured and uninsured motorist coverage, sexual assault claims, workers’ compensation, wrongful death matters, and insurance claim defense. He represents injured people, grieving families, and policyholders in both negotiation and litigation, seeking practical solutions that reflect each client’s priorities.

After earning his J.D. in 1983, Mr. Stanford served as a law clerk to a federal judge in the Eastern District of Missouri, then spent time with an insurance defense firm. That early exposure to defense practice clarified where his convictions lay, and it shaped a career devoted to advocating for those harmed rather than for carriers. His law‑journal experience and early courtroom work provided a strong foundation for the litigation work he would pursue.

In 1989, Mr. Stanford opened Stanford Law Offices, S.C., and since then he has handled thousands of claims, lawsuits, hearings, arbitrations and trials. He approaches each file as a responsibility and a privilege, managing preparation, evidence gathering, and courtroom presentation with care. Clients can expect attentive case management, clear explanations of options, and persistent attention to deadlines and procedural details that affect outcomes. He has been peer-review rated Distinguished* through Martindale-Hubbell and holds a “Very Good” rating on Avvo.

Drawing from decades of practice, Mr. Stanford pursues recovery for medical expenses, lost income, pain and suffering, and future care needs while also addressing coverage disputes and workers’ compensation claims. He engages medical professionals, accident reconstruction resources and relevant investigators when cases require it, and he tailors resolution strategies to the client’s financial and personal needs — whether that means negotiation, alternative dispute resolution or trial.

Licensed in Missouri (1983), Illinois (1984), and Wisconsin (1987), Mr. Stanford is admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern District of Missouri and the Southern District of Illinois and to the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Eighth and Seventh Circuits. He holds a bachelor’s degree cum laude from Washington & Lee University (1980) and a J.D. from Saint Louis University School of Law (1983), where he served as senior editor of the Law Bar Journal. His professional memberships include the state bars of Missouri, Illinois and Wisconsin; the Milwaukee Bar Association and recognition by National Trial Lawyers Top 100.

“Exceptionally well prepared, knowledgeable, compassionate and a fierce advocate for his clients. A true professional. Ethical and honest.”

“Peter Stanford is a fierce and passionate lawyer. He works every day of the year, including weekends and holidays, because he cares more for his clients' well-being than his own. He stops at nothing to get the best result possible for his clients. He is the only lawyer I would want on my side, and he will always be the first lawyer I recommend to anyone in need of personal injury or worker's compensation assistance. Even at 66 years old, and 40+ years of experience, his litigation strategies continue to break ground and create new law, including this year in the worker's compensation field. I cannot think of anyone more deserving of being a Super Lawyer.”

“Mr. Stanford is a very experienced and professional civil litigator.”
