Sarah C. Whiting, a distinguished family law attorney at Wiemer Law Group LLC, with offices spanning Milwaukee, Hartford and Waukesha, Wisconsin, is renowned for her proficiency in navigating the complexities of family law. She skillfully represents clients in a wide array of family-related legal matters, including divorce, paternity issues, grandparent visitation rights, business valuation during divorce, support, property division, and child custody and placement.
As a fervent advocate for children's best interests, Ms. Whiting serves as a guardian ad litem in family court, vigorously defending minors' rights. Understanding the emotional and financial toll accompanying family disputes, she advises her clients on alternative dispute resolution methods such as collaborative divorce, mediation and arbitration to facilitate amicable settlements.
In 2019, Ms. Whiting broadened her skill set by obtaining a certification as a Divorce Financial Analyst from the Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts, empowering her to adeptly navigate the financial complexities involved in divorce cases. Her academic foundation includes a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and a law degree from Marquette University Law School. Admitted to the State Bar of Wisconsin in 2009, her outstanding legal acumen was recognized early in her career when she was named an Up and Coming Lawyer by the Wisconsin Law Journal in 2010.
Before her legal career, Ms. Whiting dedicated her efforts as a social worker for Wraparound Milwaukee, aiding children and families in accessing crucial legal, mental health, educational and other services. This experience has imbued her with a profound understanding of the socio-legal dynamics affecting families, which she leverages to encourage out-of-court resolutions.
However, when necessary, Ms. Whiting is a formidable trial attorney prepared to protect her clients’ interests in court. Looking ahead, she is excited about her upcoming role as the lead instructor for the Family Mediation Certificate program at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where she will shape future mediators in the art of conflict resolution.
Outside the courtroom, Ms. Whiting actively contributes to the legal community. She serves on the editorial board of the Wisconsin Journal of Family Law and chairs the membership committee for the Wisconsin Chapter of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts. Her commitment to the legal profession is also demonstrated through her prolific contributions as a speaker and author, enriching the field of family law with her insights and knowledge.
