Bernardo Cueto is the owner of and an attorney at the law firm WISLawyer, LLC, based in Onalaska, Wisconsin. Practicing law in areas related to criminal law, business law, civil rights, employment discrimination, general litigation and landlord-tenant law, specifically landlord defense, he serves clients in the La Crosse metropolitan area.
Receiving his J.D. from the University of North Dakota School of Law, Mr. Cueto graduated law school with distinction in 2009, where he was also honored with the Alan J. Larivee Memorial Law School Award for his oratory skills. He pursued his master’s in business administration at Marylhurst University and graduated with distinction in 2011.
As a law student, Mr. Cueto worked as a law clerk for a legal firm, assisting lawyers on civil litigation and related matters. He became an allied member of Alliance Defending Freedom – a Christian legal rights organization – after he attended the National Litigation Academy.
Soon after graduation, Mr. Cueto commenced his career in law by serving as the judicial clerk and small claims mediator at the La Crosse County Circuit Court. He worked as an independent contractor for about a year, gaining valuable experience in the field before starting his firm. He is one of the few attorneys in the state licensed to defend first-degree murder cases.
Mr. Cueto has been in the legal field since 2009 and extends his services to the Onalaska community. He held a membership in the Veterans Court Committee and managed a moot court team at Luther High School. He speaks frequently on topics related to landlord-tenant law and was a speaker at the annual Wisconsin Apartment Association Conferences. He serves as the elected chairperson for the Civil Rights and Liberties Section of the State Bar of Wisconsin.
