Paul Swanson is a partner at Steinhilber Swanson LLP representing both businesses and individuals in Oshkosh, Green Bay & Milwaukee Wisconsin, and the surrounding areas. His practice is focused on commercial and agricultural business restructuring, business workouts and bankruptcy and insolvency law and other debt adjustment strategies. The American Board of Certification has certified him as a bankruptcy specialist in business and consumer bankruptcy (continuous since 1993), and he primarily limits representation to debtors. He has been an independent receiver in large and complex Wisconsin Ch. 128 Receiverships and has served on the private panel of Chapter 7 trustees for the E.D. WI for over 30 years.
An experienced and engaging speaker, Mr. Swanson has presented to the State Bar of Wisconsin, the American Bankruptcy Institute (Chair of the Central States program) and the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees, LSU Law School, the National Association of Ch. 12 Trustees, led the Law Education Institute Bankruptcy program. He is currently a member of the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees (Past President), the American Bankruptcy Institute, the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Wisconsin (Past President), the Milwaukee Bar Association and the 7th Circuit Bar Association.
In 1977, Mr. Swanson obtained a bachelor's in business administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, then attended the University of Wisconsin Law School to earn a Juris Doctor in 1979. Since then, he has handled Chapter 13 repayment plans, Chapter 7 liquidations, Chapter 11 reorganizations and Chapter 12 farm reorganizations for debtors.
Mr. Swanson is admitted to practice in the state of Wisconsin and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit and the U.S. District Courts for the Western and Eastern Districts of Wisconsin, Western District of Michigan and the District of Colorado. In giving back to his community, he has worked with the Mercy Medical Center Foundation, the American Red Cross, Forward Oshkosh, the Center for Community Partnerships, the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Alumni Association and the Oshkosh Yacht Club.
Mr. Swanson is a debt relief agent. He helps people file for bankruptcy relief under the Bankruptcy Code.
