Boasting over 30 years of legal experience, Mr. Obear brings the insight of a former prosecutor and a defense attorney. His journey includes over a decade of active duty in the U.S. Air Force, where he served in numerous legal capacities and even held the position of special assistant United States attorney.
Academically accomplished, Mr. Obear graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Mount Olive in North Carolina in 1991. He earned his law degree from the University at Buffalo School of Law in 1994. Further, he honed his skills at the USAF Judge Advocate General’s School in Alabama and the Attorney General's Institute Trial Advocacy School in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Obear is licensed to practice law across all Wisconsin state and federal courts, the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, the Wisconsin Supreme Court, the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, the U.S. Air Force Court of Criminal Appeals and the Supreme Court of the United States. He is also affiliated with the Judge Advocates Association.
In leadership roles, Mr. Obear has made significant contributions. He is a past president of the Wisconsin Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and has served on the board of directors for the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He currently holds the position of Parliamentarian for the Sheboygan County Democratic Party and is a member of the National Legal Committee for the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws. Additionally, he is an associate of the 7th Circuit Bar Association and the Eastern District of Wisconsin Bar Association.
