Educational Background:
- Brown County DA Office Legal Intern (Summer 2013): This is a Student Practice Rule clinical placement for students interested in acquiring courtroom experience in the context of a state prosecutor’s office. The office receives referrals from the various law enforcement agencies in the county and is responsible for charging and prosecuting the individuals accused of committing crimes via the criminal justice system. Students assist the Assistant District Attorneys in the various phases of a criminal case from charging to sentencing., 2013
- Wisconsin Governor's Office Legal Intern: The Officer of Legal Counsel is a critical component of the Governor's Office. It is comprised of three lawyers and a legal assistant. The Office is responsible for counseling the Governor and his staff on any legal issues that may arise. Attorneys analyze pending legislation, draft executive orders, respond to open record requests, monitor developments within the legal community, and provide legal analysis and guidance on a wide range of issues that come to the Governor's attention., 2012
- Prosecutor Clinic Participant: The Prosecutor Clinic is a joint endeavor of the Marquette University Law School and the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office consisting of two components: the Prosecutor Workshop and a Supervised Fieldwork Program Placement at the District Attorney's Office. As interns, students assist Milwaukee County prosecutors in the full range of activities associated with the prosecution of criminal cases. These activities include charging cases, representing the state at initial appearances and preliminary hearing, litigating pretrial motions, negotiating plea agreements, representing the state at guilty plea hearings and sentencing hearings, litigating trials to the court, and preparing appellate briefs., 2014
- Wisconsin Supreme Court Judicial Intern: This internship is principally a legal analysis and legal writing experience in which students prepare bench memos for upcoming oral arguments and perform such other research or opinion drafting as assigned. Students also observe oral arguments at the court for the cases on which they have worked. The chance to be a working member of a court staff and to observe first-hand the business of judging can be a worthy educational experience that helps prepare students to function effectively in the courts as practicing lawyers., 2013
