    Jesse Blocher is shareholder with Habush Habush & Rottier and practices in the firm’s Waukesha office. He represents people injured in a variety of cases from automobile collisions to complex products liability claims. Large or small, Jesse attempts to prepare each case as if it will be argued to a jury. While most cases settle out of court, he believes that being prepared to go forward with a trial helps to obtain the best possible outcome.

    Jesse is a Board Certified Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, having successfully conducted numerous jury trials throughout the State. He has been trial counsel on successful verdicts ranging from $25,000 to $38 million.  He has also litigated several appeals and has argued before the Wisconsin Supreme Court.  Jesse has received numerous professional honors, including being named a “Super Lawyer” by Milwaukee Magazine each year since 2013, being named an “Up and Coming Lawyer” by the Wisconsin Law Journal in 2013, being recognized as a “Rising Star” by Milwaukee Magazine from 2011-2012, being named as one of M Magazine’s “Leading Lawyers” from 2012-2014, being included in Wisconsin’s “Top 40 under 40” by the National Trial Lawyers, and obtaining a perfect 10.0 Rating on Avvo.

    Jesse volunteers his time for a number of organizations. He has been the President and Litigation Section Chairman of the Waukesha County Bar Association.  He was elected to serve on the Wisconsin State Bar’s Board of Governors.  He is a member of the board of directors, the amicus committee co-chair, and the jury instruction committee co-chair for the Wisconsin Association for Justice, an organization dedicated to helping those harmed by negligent and intentional wrongdoing.   Jesse has published numerous articles and presented at legal seminars on topics relating to his practice, including two articles entitled “Earn Your Stripes, Part 1: How to Get Civil Trial Experience” and “Earn Your Stripes, Part 2: How to Get Through a Civil Trial” which were published by Wisconsin Lawyer.  For ten years, Jesse helped aspiring lawyers by coaching moot court teams at Marquette University Law School.

    Jesse is a summa cum laude (top 1% of class) graduate of the Marquette University Law School. He obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Outside of work, Jesse enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, playing golf, and staying active in his community.

    • Jesse Blocher, Limiting Damages in Fire Loss Cases with an Enhancement of Damages Defense, 7 The Counsel 11 ( Spring 2009). The article discusses application of an enhancement defense in fire loss cases, where a plaintiff property owner's negligence could have prevented the spread of a fire.  The article is based on a theory successfully employed in a multimillion-dollar property damage fire loss jury trial that Atty. Blocher assisted in litigating as a second chair

    Verdicts/Settlements:

    • Mark Griffin Jr et al vs. Cincinnati Insurance Company et al, Milwaukee County Case Number 2005CV010747.  In August of 2007, while working as defense counsel, Atty. Blocher successfully tried this personal injury automobile accident case to a jury and obtained a favorable contribution verdict from the co-defendant when liability was in question.    
    • Kenosha Rendering LLC et al vs. Cincinnati Insurance Company et al, Kenosha County Case Number 2007CV000213.  In 2008, while working as defense counsel, Atty. Blocher participated in the defense of this multimillion-dollar fire loss case at trial as a second chair.  After hearing two weeks of testimony, the jury returned a no liability verdict on behalf of the defendants as well as a drastic reduction of plaintiff's claimed damage
    • Amanda Lehrer vs. The Cincinnati Insurance Co, Racine County Case Number 2005CV001778.  In 2006, while working as defense counsel, Atty. Blocher participated in defending this case as a second chair at trial.  The jury determined that the plaintiff's liability exceeded the defendant's, and therefore the plaintiff did not recover. 
    • Mark Cohan et al vs. Allstate, 2011CV012437. After trial with disputed liability, the jury determined that the the defendant was 100% responsible for the accident in question and the plaintiff, represented by Mr. Blocher, recovered the full insurance policy limit in damages., 2013
    • Terrence Tyler et al vs. Anthony Q Jamal et al, Milwaukee County Case Number 2006CV005693.  In 2007, while working as defense counsel, Atty. Blocher successfully defended this case at trial and obtained a no liability jury verdict on behalf of the defendants. 
    • Joy Uhlig v. Employers Mutual Casualty Company, Fond du Lac County Case Number 2008CV000980.  In April of 2010, while working as defense counsel, Atty. Blocher successfully tried this civil case to a Fund du Lac County jury and obtained a defense verdict where the jury assessed a greater percentage of comparative negligence to the plaintiff than the defendant. 

    Other Outstanding Achievements:

    • Kenneth F Sullivan Co et al vs. Kenneth S Keryluk et al, Dane County Case Number 2002CV002655.  In 2009, Atty. Blocher obtained summary judgment in favor of his client in this multimillion-dollar construction case. Mr. Blocher also obtained dismissal of the appeal (Appeal Number 2008AP000970).   
    • Jay Gehler vs. Best Buy Co Inc., Dane County Case Number 2008CV003649.  While working as defense counsel, Atty. Blocher obtained partial summary judgment on behalf of the defendant in this personal injury action involving claims of misrepresentation, infliction of emotional distress, and punitive damages. 
    • General Casualty Company of Wisconsin et al vs. New Berlin Building Systems Inc et al, Ozaukee County Case Number 2007CV000246.  While working as defense counsel, Atty. Blocher obtained summary judgment in favor of the defendants in this negligent construction case.
    • Grace Christian Fellowship v. KJG Investments LLC, Eastern District of Wisconsin Federal District Court case # 07-C-0348.  While working as defense counsel, Atty. Blocher participated as a second chair in the defense of a 7-day preliminary injunction hearing of this environmental claim brought under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act. After the hearing and after extensive briefing, the Court denied the plaintiff's motion for a preliminary injunction. 
    • Authored winning amicus briefs on behalf of the Wisconsin Association for Justice in Belding v. Demoulin, both in the Court of Appeals and the Wisconsin Supreme Court, Appeal Number 2012AP000829, in which the court found stacking of insurance policy limits is available in Wisconsin under the Truth in Automobile Insurance Act, 2013
