The American Civil Liberties Union named Mr. Olson the Volunteer Attorney of the Year in 1986. In 1988, he was given the Fair Housing Advocate Award from the Dane County Fair Housing Council, and in 2010, he won the Most Decisive Victory award by the Wisconsin Employment Lawyers Association. In 2013, he was named the Warrior of the Year by the Dane County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.
