David Nied

David Nied, a founding partner of Ad Astra Law Group, P.C., in San Francisco, California, has been representing clients in complex litigation for nearly four decades. Originally from Hawaii, he launched his legal career in 1986 and has since built a reputation for successfully advocating on behalf of private businesses, public entities and individuals across a wide range of disputes. His practice spans trials, arbitrations, mediations and appeals, where he is known for his calm demeanor, thoughtful analysis and relentless commitment to client success.

Mr. Nied co-founded the firm with the vision of creating a boutique litigation firm that combined top-tier advocacy with a collaborative, client-focused approach. Throughout his career, he has chosen to work in smaller, highly regarded litigation practices where he can engage directly with clients and partner closely with talented trial lawyers. A graduate of Harvard Law School, Mr. Nied also earned his undergraduate degree from Stanford University after attending the ‘Iolani School in Honolulu. He is admitted to practice in the State Bar of California and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. Beyond his casework, he has been actively engaged in professional service, including leadership roles with The Bar Association of San Francisco, where he served as Chair of the Litigation Section’s Executive Committee, and with The Edward J. McFetridge American Inn of Court, where he is a Past President and Master Emeritus.

Recognized as a Fellow of both the American Bar Foundation and the Litigation Counsel of America, Mr. Nied continues to be a respected figure in the legal community.
