Tera Smith

Attorney Tera Smith is a shareholder at Holzer Patel Drennan in Denver, Colorado. Ms. Smith practices patent preparation and prosecution in various technical areas, serving clients throughout the state of Colorado.

Ms. Smith handles patent matters involving computing device accessories, computer hardware, disk and solid-state storage technologies, encryption, manufacturing processes, mechanical devices, network security, optics, semiconductor devices, software, and telecommunications. She also has experience with intellectual property portfolio, patent analysis and due diligence involving freedom to operate, infringement, noninfringement, invalidity, patentability and validity.

A magna cum laude graduate of the University of Colorado, Ms. Smith earned bachelor’s degrees in astronomy and physics. She received her law degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and became a licensed attorney in Colorado in 2012.

Ms. Smith practices before all Colorado state courts and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. In addition to her legal experience, she is an experienced computer programmer with work experience building websites and developing databases. Her combined knowledge and experience in the legal and technological industries enables her to provide the best possible service and solutions to her clients.

Outside of the office, Ms. Smith is active in the Colorado legal community and is a member of various professional organizations. She belongs to the intellectual property section of the Colorado Bar Association, the Colorado Women’s Bar Association and the Colorado’s ProBoPat, an organization designed to provide free legal services to low income inventors. She is also an active member of The Richard Linn American Inn of Court.
