David W. Heckenbach

David W. Heckenbach is the founder, owner and president of Heckenbach Law P.C., based in Greenwood Village, Colorado. He fiercely fights to protect the rights of his clients and their children across the Denver metro areas in cases that include but are not limited to:

His knowledge, strategic skills and desire to deliver superior service have earned him the trust of his clients, peers and judges. He demonstrates an exceptional level of dedication and determination while representing each of his clients. He has co-authored and published a book titled “The Guide to a Smart Divorce.”

Mr. Heckenbach graduated cum laude with his bachelor’s degree in psychology and accounting in 1976 from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, where he was a member of Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology. In 1979, he obtained his J.D. from the University of Colorado Law School. He was a quarter-finalist in the Rothgerber Moot Court Competition and worked as a research assistant for a professor of corporations and real property.

To engage with fellow attorneys professionally, Mr. Heckenbach has associated himself with several organizations such as the Colorado Bar Association, the Denver Bar Association, the Arapahoe County Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Douglas-Elbert County Bar Association. He is admitted to practice before all state courts in Colorado, the United States District Court for the District of Colorado and the United States Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit.

A former chief deputy in charge of the Denver District Attorney’s Office’s Complex Prosecutions Unit, Mr. Heckenbach enjoys contributing his time to the community. He served as a board member of the Alzheimer’s Association, a board member and former chairman of the American Heart Association of Colorado and co-chair of the Toyota Celebrity Ski Challenge.

Mr. Heckenbach has been honored with an AV Preeminent* rating, the highest possible by Martindale-Hubbell, and a “Superb” rating on Avvo.
