    Attorney Matthew J. Mueller uses the experience he gained prosecuting tax, health care fraud, securities fraud, and other white collar crimes in Florida and across the nation to zealously defend clients facing criminal charges in federal and state courts, as well as those involved with serious civil and criminal tax disputes, grand jury investigations, and securities enforcement actions. 

    A former federal prosecutor with the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. and Tampa, Mr. Mueller has extensive experience with the Department of Justice Tax Division where he prosecuted tax evasion cases and other criminal tax violations against individuals, employees and corporations in federal courts across the United States. Following that, he served the Middle District of Florida as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Tampa, prosecuting a variety of cases involving white collar crimes, health care fraud, securities fraud, public corruption, regulatory violations and more.

    Mr. Mueller received his Bachelor of Science in biological sciences from the University of Notre Dame in 1998 and his Master of Forensic Science from The George Washington University in 2000. In 2007, he obtained his Juris Doctor magna cum laude from The Catholic University of America, and that same year, The Florida Bar admitted him to practice.

    A highly rated attorney, Mr. Mueller remains active in several professional legal organizations. He is a member of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, as well as The Florida Bar Tax Section.

    In addition, he is also a member of the Hillsborough County Bar Association's Criminal and Tax Law Sections, the Tampa Bay Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and The Herbert G. Goldburg-Ronald K. Cacciatore Criminal Law American Inn of Court. He is also active with the American Bar Association Criminal Justice Section and Section of Taxation.

    Along with practicing law, Mr. Mueller routinely conducts lectures across the country on various legal topics related to federal prosecution and sentencing guidelines, health care fraud, tax-related issues and electronic discovery.
