Born and raised in Tampa, Scott T. Borders has been an attorney at Morgan & Morgan since 2000. Working out of the firm's office in his native city, he now focuses his practice on personal injury and wrongful death litigation, helping clients throughout the greater metropolitan area. Mr. Borders is admitted to practice before all Florida state courts, and he has been certified as a specialist in Civil Trial Law by the Board of Legal Specialization and Education of The Florida Bar.
Mr. Borders devotes a significant portion of his time to representing people who have been harmed by the negligence or recklessness of health care practitioners or facilities. The medical malpractice cases, which he has handled have involved misdiagnoses, surgical errors, birth injuries and medication mistakes, among other matters, and he has been able to obtain significant compensation for his clients through both negotiated settlements and jury verdicts, including several for seven-figure amounts. Earlier in his career, Mr. Borders worked on consumer protection cases, including those involving the state's lemon law as well as its Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act, and his track record in these matters was equally positive. His colleagues have taken note of his successes both in and out of the courtroom, and they have awarded him an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell.
Mr. Borders majored in criminal justice at the University of South Florida in Tampa, and he received a Bachelor of Arts in 1984 and was inducted into Alpha Phi Sigma, the Criminal Justice Honor Society. He then went on to attend Stetson University College of Law, and he participated in moot court competitions before being awarded his Juris Doctor in 1987. Mr. Borders is a member of the Florida Justice Association and other professional groups.
