Andrew J. Welch, III is the managing partner at Smith Welch Webb & White, located in McDonough, Georgia. Providing representation to clients throughout the state, he handles a variety of matters, including zoning disputes, commercial and residential real estate transactions, environmental law, insurance defense and business litigation. Mr. Welch also represents local governmental agencies.

A Georgia native, Mr. Welch attended Presbyterian College as an undergraduate and received a Bachelor of Science in biology with honors in 1994. He then spent three years in Ghana as a volunteer with the Peace Corps before enrolling at Vermont Law School. While in law school, he was the editor-in-chief of the Vermont Journal of Environmental Law and served a summer internship with the Natural Resources Defense Council before being awarded his Juris Doctor as well as a Master of Environmental Law and Policy in 1997. After graduation, Mr. Welch clerked for a judge on the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York and was then an associate with a Syracuse firm before relocating to Georgia in 2002. Admitted to practice in Georgia and New York, he is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of New York.

Mr. Welch was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 2010, and he serves on the Judiciary, Regulated Industries, Code Revision, and Juvenile Justice committees. He is a past chairman of the Henry County Chamber of Commerce, and he has served on the board of directors of United Community Banks, Inc. Mr. Welch is also an active participant in several legal organizations.
