With extensive knowledge and experience working in various areas of the law, David I. Schachter currently represents those in Savannah, Georgia, who are dealing with family law issues as founder of The Schachter Law Firm, LLC. He has previously handled matters of business law, including partnership breakups, contract disputes, employment litigation, minority shareholder claims, eminent domain, and land use and real estate law before turning his focus to family law.
As guardian ad litem for the Superior Court of Chatham County, Mr. Schachter handles cases of family violence and restraining orders, property division, paternity and legitimation, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, mediation, legal separation, divorce, contempt actions, common law marriage, child support, child custody, annulment, alimony and modification of child support, and visitation.
At Touro college, Mr. Schachter earned a Bachelor of Science in marketing and management, then earned his Juris Doctor at Case Western Reserve University School of Law, where he served on the executive editorial board and as articles editor of the school’s Journal of International Law. During his time in law school, he was given two CALI Excellence awards and for five semesters was named to the Dean’s Honor list.

- Secured lifetime alimony for Wife/Mother, child support with a high income deviation twice the norm, fees, and the majority of a large marital estate, including, but not limited to a paid-for house, 50% of renal house proceeds in a foreign country, the majority of the ex-husband's retirement, and significant property payments after securing valuation of ex-husband's interest in his partnership of approximately $1 million dollars pursuant to our argument to the court (which husband had argued was only worth $300K) in a highly contested divorce which drew national attention because the ex-husband subsequently placed a bomb in my client's car and it exploded, which resulted in client being hospitalized in a coma at a burns unit with 50% burns on her body (which she thankfully survived). The ex-husband is currently in jail awaiting trial., 2019
