    Attorney Profile

Michelle M. Kohut is a partner at Corboy & Demetrio, where she divides her practice between personal injury and wrongful death litigation and workers' compensation matters. Based in Chicago, Illinois, she provides effective advocacy to her clients throughout the greater metropolitan area. Admitted to practice in Illinois since 2002, Ms. Kohut is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

The types of cases that Ms. Kohut has handled for those of her clients who have been harmed as a result of the negligence of other parties have arisen out of incidents involving medical malpractice, truck and other motor vehicle crashes, pedestrian knockdowns, defective products, construction site accidents, and premises liability. She has also represented railroad workers who have been injured in the course of their employment in lawsuits governed by the Federal Employers' Liability Act. Ms. Kohut has been able to obtain significant compensation for these clients, including a $2 million settlement for a pedestrian who was struck by a garbage truck and a $5 million settlement of a medical malpractice action involving a birth injury. In her workers' compensation practice, Ms. Kohut has appeared before the Illinois Workers' Compensation Commission at hearings on denied or disputed claims.

Ms. Kohut's successful track record has caught the attention of her fellow attorneys, and as a result, she has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America, among other honors. A former president of the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois, she remains active in that organization as well as the Chicago Bar Association and the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. Ms. Kohut received her legal education at Loyola University Chicago School of Law and was awarded her Juris Doctor in 2002.
