Cory McKenna is a criminal defense attorney at McKenna PLLC in Portland, Maine. Mr. McKenna represents clients throughout the greater Portland metropolitan area in misdemeanor and felony cases involving charges such as drug possession, OUI, theft and more. In addition to criminal law, he has experience with various areas of civil litigation, including contract, family, insurance and intellectual property law.
Mr. McKenna is passionate about protecting the legal rights of his clients and fighting for the best possible outcome for their unique situations. The National Trial Lawyers included him on its Maine list of the “Top 40 Under 40” in 2020 and 2021.
After graduating from the University of Vermont in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy, Mr. McKenna earned his law degree from the University of Maine School of Law. He developed his legal knowledge and experience during law school through several roles, including serving as a student attorney at the school’s intellectual property clinic and clerking for private law firms.
Following law school graduation, Mr. McKenna obtained his license to practice law before all Maine state courts. He is also qualified to appear before the U.S. District Court for the District of Maine and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 1st Circuit. Active in his legal community, he belongs to the Maine Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Maine Association of Parental Rights Attorneys and the American Bar Association.
In addition to his law practice, Mr. McKenna serves on the Maine Commission on Indigent Legal Services. Additionally, he serves on the Criminal Justice Act Panel for the U.S. District Court for the District of Maine.
