Andrea Kramer of Kramer Law LLC is a business and employment law litigator and counselor with over 30 years of legal experience. Valued for her legal acumen, tenacity, and practical problem-solving skills, Ms. Kramer has successfully represented individuals, small and large businesses, nonprofit organizations, and institutional clients in a variety of cases, including ones involving breach of contract, discrimination, wage and hour laws, business torts, restrictive covenants (noncompetition and nonsolicitation agreements), closely held company disputes, and civil rights litigation.

Ms. Kramer also conducts internal investigations, negotiates severance agreements, and provides training to clients. And she employs her analytic and writing skills in appellate advocacy and brief-writing. Since 1999, Ms. Kramer has frequently authored appellate briefs for clients, including pro bono clients. One appellate brief she authored led to the reversal of a multimillion dollar judgment against her client; another led to successful asylum petitions for approximately 100 Indonesian Christian immigrants who faced deportation. Many of the appellate briefs she has authored for the Women’s Bar Association of Massachusetts, for which she serves as chair of the Amicus Committee, have found their way into court decisions. She has also provided briefs and memoranda of law to other attorneys, including ones that have led to defeating a motion for summary judgment in a mass tort case, a motion to exclude expert evidence, and a motion to grant a preliminary injunction.

In addition to her law practice, Ms. Kramer has taught a mandatory first-year course at Harvard Law School, taught courses on sex discrimination law at Brandeis University, and has served as a guest lecturer at Boston University and Harvard Law School. She also is a frequent presenter at continuing legal education programs, has authored several articles, and has served on numerous boards of directors, including as president of the Women’s Bar Association of Massachusetts and a director of the YW Boston and the National Center on Time and Learning.

A staunch supporter of women’s rights and civil rights, Ms. Kramer previously served as Chief of the Civil Rights Division of the Office of the Massachusetts Attorney General.  She currently is leading an effort to pass legislation to provide employment protections to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other abusive behaviors.

Ms. Kramer is a magna cum laude graduate of Wellesley College and Harvard Law School. She is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of Connecticut and Massachusetts as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 1st Circuit. Ms. Kramer has an AV Preeminent* Peer Review Rating by Martindale Hubbell, and Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly has named her a Top Woman Attorney and inducted her into its Circle of Excellence. She has a “Superb” rating on Avvo.
