Sheila E. O'Shea-Criscione

Sheila E. O’Shea-Criscione is a partner and employment law attorney at the Carcich O’Shea, LLC, in Hackensack, New Jersey. She has negotiated, mediated and litigated cases for both employees and employers in many aspects of employment law. Licensed to practice across New Jersey and New York, she has a notable history of dealing with cases under New Jersey Law Against Discrimination (LAD), Conscientious Employee Protection Act (CEPA), Family and Medical Leave Act, and the New Jersey Family Leave Act.

An aggressive and persistent attorney, Ms. O’Shea-Criscione believes that listening with undivided attention is crucial to understanding her clients’ circumstances, values and goals to help them stay on track. While counseling and representing employees going through discrimination and retaliation, she also devotes her time to reviewing employee handbooks, offering workplace training on sexual harassment and antidiscrimination, and negotiating or enforcing noncompete and nonsolicit agreements for employers.

On completing her Bachelor of Arts degree in legal studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Ms. O’Shea-Criscione pursued her Juris Doctor at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University, White Plains, New York. Since 1996, she has been educating undergraduate students on conflict and its resolution; negotiation, mediation, arbitration and other processes; legal research and intro to law and the legal procedure as an adjunct professor at Montclair State University. She also takes graduate-level negotiation and mediation classes. Before practicing in law firms, she served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Bruce A. Gaeta, J.S.C.

Ms. O’Shea-Criscione is a Rule 1:40-qualified mediator for the Statewide Mediation Program for civil, general equity, and probate cases, resolving private disputes and disputes assigned by the courts. Her bar memberships include the New Jersey Superior Court; the municipal courts in Bergen, Essex, Sussex, Morris and Passaic counties; the New Jersey State Bar Association Dispute Resolution Section; and the Bergen County Bar Association. 

Acknowledging her feats, she has been named into the top attorneys list in different categories by 201 Magazine for three consecutive years. Currently a trustee for the Bergen County Special Services Board of Education, she is an active member of Paramus Rotary and a past trustee of the Paramus Board of Education. She has been featured on New Jersey News 12 and WABC in New York. She has eloquently expressed her views in several employee rights conferences.
