Kaitlin D. Foley

Kaitlin D. Foley has been an associate at Colwell Law for her entire legal career. From the firm's office in Albany, New York, she focuses her practice exclusively on a variety of family law matters, providing representation to residents of the surrounding counties. Ms. Foley has been admitted to practice before all New York state courts since January 2017.

Like many family law attorneys, Ms. Foley spends a significant amount of time working with clients whose marriages are coming to an end. In this regard, she helps them deal with such divorce-related issues as spousal maintenance, child support, asset and debt division, and child custody and visitation. There are a few legal strategies that she can employ, ranging from helping them negotiate a comprehensive settlement agreement to mediation, collaborative divorce, and courtroom advocacy when litigation is necessary. She also represents clients whose marriages have already officially ended and who are now petitioning the court for the enforcement of or modifications to existing parenting and support orders.

Ms. Foley also has extensive experience in nondivorce family law matters. She regularly prepares and reviews prenuptial and post-marital agreements, and she has worked on adoptions, parental abductions, and paternity disputes and establishment. Ms. Foley attended the University at Albany, part of the State University of New York system, where she majored in psychology and received a bachelor's degree in 2012. Remaining in the state capital, she pursued her legal education at Albany Law School. While she was there, she served on the Albany Law Review and was a teaching assistant for a criminal law professor. She also served internships with the Office of the New York State Attorney General and for a federal magistrate judge.
