James S. Savage, III

James S. Savage is a trial lawyer in Columbus, Ohio.  He has represented business and construction clients for four decades.  He is one of a handful of trial lawyers recognized by his peers and the judiciary as a Super Lawyer (every year since its inception in 2004), for the highest Martindale-Hubbell "AV" rating - "A" (ability) and "V" (highest ethics) and has also been designated among the "Best Lawyers in America" for commercial litigation.  Mr. Savage is also one of the few members of the Multi-Million Dollar advocates forum, limited to advocates who have achieved jury verdicts in excess of $2 million dollars.  He has obtained multi-million jury verdicts in both commercial and in construction cases.  His practice is limited to disputes involving amounts in excess of $100,000.00, and he continues to work alongside his longtime partner and fellow Super Lawyer Doug Segerman on all cases.  They have worked together for over twenty-five years, mostly at their own boutique litigation firm in downtown Columbus.

Mr. Savage focuses on solving the business problem that is at the heart of each dispute as quickly and economically as possible, whether that requires adjudication in court or before an arbitration panel or through mediation or arbitration. Regardless of the approach, the objective remains the same – resolve the dispute favorably, efficiently and at the least possible cost. 

After graduating magna cum laude from Duke University with a degree in business and economics, Mr. Savage earned his Juris Doctorate from Washington University School of Law. He is admitted to practice law in all state and federal courts in Ohio.
