Lauren Barnhart is the founder of Barnhart Legal in Portland, Oregon, where she provides thoughtful, solutions-oriented representation in family law, estate planning and probate matters. She believes that, especially in family law, the best outcomes are not measured by winners and losers but by equitable solutions and child-focused results. Whether clients are navigating divorce, custody and parenting time, spousal support, or third-party rights, she approaches each case with integrity, compassion and a commitment to achieving fair, sustainable resolutions.
Although Ms. Barnhart maintains a robust and successful litigation practice, she prioritizes settlement whenever possible. She explores every opportunity to resolve disputes efficiently and cost-effectively, minimizing stress and expense for the families she serves. This approach reflects her belief that legal advocacy should empower clients to move forward with clarity and dignity rather than prolong conflict.
Ms. Barnhart also provides comprehensive estate planning and probate services, helping individuals and families protect their values, assets and loved ones. From drafting wills, trusts and property transfers to guiding personal representatives through the probate process or handling disputes, she ensures her clients’ interests are safeguarded at every stage.
Growing up in Tacoma, Washington, with her mother and three brothers, Ms. Barnhart learned early the power of hard work and creative problem-solving. She earned a full-ride music scholarship to college, performing as principal bassoonist at Carnegie Hall before pursuing her legal career. Initially drawn to international justice, she discovered her deepest reward in serving individuals and families in her own community.
Clients who work with Ms. Barnhart immediately see that their case matters to her. She brings not only legal skill but also empathy, adaptability and a focus on practical solutions. Her goal is always to guide clients through difficult chapters and help them emerge with stability, clarity and hope for the future.
