James B. Hood

Jamie graduated from Woodberry Forest School in 1995, the University of the South at Sewanee, TN in 1999 and the University of South Carolina Law School in 2002, where he was on the South Carolina Environmental Law Journal and a member of the John Belton  O'Neal Inn of Court.  He graduated from Tulane University Law School where he received an LLM in Admiralty in 2003 while working for a maritime firm in New Orleans. He was the recipient of the Edward A. Dodd, Jr. Award as the outstanding candidate for the degree of LLM in Admiralty. Since obtaining his LLM, Jamie has worked for the Hood Law Firm, where he is a partner. He is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in South Carolina.  His areas of practice include admiralty, medical device and pharmaceutical litigation, products liability, medical malpractice, and general civil and commercial litigation. Since Jamie began working, he has tried over sixty cases, including cases across South Carolina, and in Florida, New York and Pennsylvania. He is a member of International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC), American Defense Trial Attorneys Association (ADTA), Council on Litigation Management (CLM), South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association (Secretary 2015 and Executive Committee2009-2015), Defense Research Institute (DRI), South Carolina Bar Association, Charleston County Bar Association
