James B. Hood

Jamie graduated from Woodberry Forest School in 1995, the University of the South at Sewanee, TN in 1999 and the University of South Carolina Law School in 2002, where he was on the South Carolina Environmental Law Journal and a member of the John Belton O'Neal Inn of Court. He graduated from Tulane University Law School where he received an LLM in Admiralty in 2003 while working for a maritime firm in New Orleans. He was the recipient of the Edward A. Dodd, Jr. Award as the outstanding candidate for the degree of LLM in Admiralty. Since obtaining his LLM, Jamie has worked for the Hood Law Firm, where he is a partner. He is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in South Carolina.  His areas of practice include defense of products liability, commercial litigation, medical malpractice, admiralty, negligence, personal injury, construction litigation, and insurance coverage litigation. Jamie has extensive trial experience in multiple jurisdictions, having litigated cases across South Carolina and in Florida, New York, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania.

He is a member of International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC), American Defense Trial Attorneys Association (President 2021-2022 and Executive Council 2016-2021), Council on Litigation Management (CLM), South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association (President 2018-2019 and Board of Directors 2008-2020), Defense Research Institute (Board of Directors 2020-2022), American Bar Association, South Carolina Bar Association, and Charleston County Bar Association.
