Jared is a Member with Spicer Rudstrom in the Memphis office who focuses on litigation throughout Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas. He graduated cum laude from Lambuth University with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and then graduated cum laude with a J.D. degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law. He served as an editor for the Tennessee Law Review and was recognized with the Jerry J. Phillips Best Comment award for his scholarly article that was published in the Tennessee Law Review. Jared was also involved with numerous pro bono activities and the legal clinic while in law school.
Jared’s practice is concentrated primarily in the areas of workers’ compensation, premises liability, breach of contract, and personal injury defense.
Jared has been honored as a recipient of the Mid-South Super Lawyers Rising Stars award from 2016-2022, a distinction is given to no more than 2.5% of attorneys in Tennessee, for his workers’ compensation practice, and the Best Lawyers award 2021-2022. Jared was one of 35 attorneys from across the state who graduated from the Tennessee Bar Association’s Leadership Law Class of 2017.
He has volunteered for the Memphis Grizzlies Charitable Foundation, where he mentored middle school students at local charter schools, focusing on life skills such as leadership, team-building, personal responsibility, and civic engagement. Jared became a St. Jude Hero for his involvement and fundraising for the St. Jude Marathon weekend.

This case was tried in the Tennessee Court of Workers’ Compensation Claims at Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and Jared obtained a defense judgment. The case was appealed, but the appeal was subsequently dismissed.
Jonathan Engler v. Able Moving Co., No. 2014-08-0022 (Tenn. Ct. Workers’ Comp. Claims Aug. 17, 2016)
This case was tried in the Tennessee Court of Workers’ Compensation Claims at Memphis, Tennessee. Jared obtained a defense judgment in this complex workers’ compensation case in which five expert physicians testified in the case.
Jonathan Engler v. Able Moving Co., 2017 WL 5075763 (Tenn. Spec. Workers' Comp. Panel Oct. 30, 2017)
This case was decided by the Tennessee Supreme Court Special Workers' Compensation Panel after a defense judgment was obtained in the trial court. Jared briefed and argued the case, and the Tennessee Supreme Court Special Workers' Compensation Panel affirmed the decision of the trial court, ruling in favor of the employer, Jared's client.

This case was tried in the Tennessee Court of Workers’ Compensation Claims at Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and Jared obtained a defense judgment.
Luis Castro-Contreras v. EMB Quality Masonry, Ovidio Juarez, and Lucio Pena, No. 2015-08-0016, 2016 TN Wrk. Comp. LEXIS 83 (Tenn. Ct. Workers’ Comp. Claims May 10, 2016)
This case was tried in the Tennessee Court of Workers’ Compensation Claims at Memphis, Tennessee. Jared obtained a dismissal of both of his defendant clients in this contested workers’ compensation claim.
Michael Lepes v. TA Operating, LLC, 2017-06-0384, 2018 WL 1724101 (Tenn. Ct. Workers’ Comp. Claims Apr. 5, 2018).
This case was tried in the Tennessee Court of Workers’ Compensation Claims at Nashville, Tennessee. Jared obtained a defense judgment on a hotly disputed claim, succeeding on the affirmative defenses of willful failure or refusal to use a safety device and willful misconduct.
Dennis Jenkins v. Tyson Foods, Inc., 2022-07-0221, 2023 WL 402020 (Tenn. Ct. Workers' Comp. Claims Jan. 19, 2023).
This case was tried in the Tennessee Court of Workers' Compensation Claims at Jackson, Tennessee. Jared obtained a defense judgment on a disputed claim, proving that the employee did not sustain an injury arising primarily out of his employment as he alleged.
Dennis Jenkins v. Tyson Foods, Inc., 2022-07-0221, 2023 WL 2928479 (Tenn. Workers' Comp. Appeals Board April 10, 2023).
In this case, the Tennessee Workers' Compensation Appeals Board affirmed the decision of the trial court, ruling in favor of the employer, Tyson Foods, Inc., represented by Jared. Prior to this appeal, Jared had obtained a defense judgment before the Tennessee Court of Workers' Compensation Claims.
