John H. Gomez

John H. Gomez is the founder and lead trial attorney at Gomez Trial Attorneys located in San Diego, California. Representing plaintiff clients throughout the state, he focuses his practice in the areas of personal injury, medical malpractice, wrongful death, class action lawsuits, defective products and environmental issues.

As a football player at the University of San Diego, Mr. Gomez was named to the Academic All-America Team before receiving a bachelor's degree. He then went on to attend Yale Law School and was awarded his Juris Doctor in 1993. After spending three years as an associate at Latham & Watkins LLP, a highly-regarded international law firm, Mr. Gomez worked for the U.S. Department of Justice before returning to private practice in 2000. He is admitted to practice in California.

Since becoming a plaintiff's attorney, Mr. Gomez has recovered more than $300 million in verdicts and settlements for his clients. His accomplishments have not gone unnoticed by his fellow professionals, as attested to by his AV* peer-review rating through Martindale-Hubbell and his 10.0 "Superb" peer-review rating through Avvo. Mr. Gomez is also a member of The Summit Council, an exclusive group of top civil justice attorneys, and he has received several awards from Consumer Attorneys of San Diego.

Mr. Gomez strongly believes that it is his duty to give back to the community. He is actively involved in a variety of different charities to help at-risk youth and foster children. Mr. Gomez also works to advocate for Latino causes, and to prevent drunk and impaired driving. His valued work for the betterment of the community led to his being given a Community Service Award in 2012 by the San Diego County Bar Association.
