    Mr. Van Aulen graduated from Ramapo College in 1987 with degrees in political science and business administration. A dean's list scholar, he served as president of the student government and delivered the commencement address at graduation. He also won Best Justice with the U.N. Debate Team as well as the Distinguished Alumni Award. He then attended New York Law School, where he obtained his Juris Doctor in 1990, and he completed Family Mediation Training at the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education and became a qualified AOC mediator.

    Along with practicing before all New Jersey state courts, Mr. Van Aulen is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. A leader in his field, he has numerous publications to his credit, and he has conducted dozens of lectures and continuing legal education seminars across his region on a variety of topics. He has also served as adjunct professor at Ramapo College and Seton Hall University, and he is a member of the Bergen County Family Law Early Settlement Panel.
