Details
The founder of his eponymous law firm, Marc A. Chavez focuses his practice primarily on criminal defense matters, and his experience extends to personal injury litigation and family law as well. His firm is located in Austin, Texas, and he represents clients throughout the area. Mr. Chavez has been admitted to practice in Texas since 2005.
Prior to opening his firm in January 2018, Mr. Chavez spent more than 10 years as a prosecutor, first with the Lubbock County District Attorney’s Office and then with the Travis County District Attorney’s Office. This experience has allowed him to anticipate the types of tactics that he now faces when representing people who have been accused by the state with having committed misdemeanor or felony offenses. The types of charges that Mr. Chavez has helped his clients defend against have included driving under the influence of alcohol, robbery, sex crimes, aggravated assault, homicide, drug possession, and arson. He has been able to obtain positive results through dismissals, jury and bench acquittals, and the negotiation of plea agreements that are favorable to his clients.
In his personal injury and wrongful death litigation practice, Mr. Chavez assists people who have suffered significant losses as a result of the negligence of other parties. His cases in this regard have primarily involved motor vehicle crashes, and his clients have been able to obtain significant compensation due to his successful presentations before juries as well as his skills at the negotiating table. Mr. Chavez’s family law experience has encompassed divorce and the related issues of parenting time, property division, and child and spousal support, and he has handled these matters through mediation and collaborative law as well as in court. He is the recipient of a 10.0 “Superb” peer-review rating through Avvo.
