Olivia Rachel Barvin has focused her practice exclusively on immigration law matters for her entire legal career, and she continues to do so at Barvin Law, the firm that she founded at the beginning of 2021. Ms. Barvin majored in political science at Yeshiva University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2009. She then attended Southern Methodist University and, while she was pursuing a master’s degree in bilingual and multilingual education, she led social studies classes for underprivileged seventh grade students through Teach For America before obtaining her degree in 2010. Determined to pursue a legal career, Ms. Barvin enrolled at the University of Houston Law Center. While she was there, she received a public interest grant and was the president of the school’s Public Interest Law Organization before being awarded her Juris Doctor degree in 2014.
After law school, Ms. Barvin obtained an Equal Justice Works Fellowship and represented victims of international human trafficking before joining Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston as an immigration attorney, assisting crime victims in their quests to obtain visas as well as in Violence Against Women Act proceedings. She now continues her immigration work in private practice, and her caseload has encompassed fiancé(e) and other family-based visa petitions, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals matters, U visas for crime victims and the obtaining of naturalization and citizenship status for legal permanent residents. Her professional affiliations include the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
